RentFriends Privacy Policy

§1. General provisions
This Privacy Policy sets out the rules for processing the personal data of users using:
- the rentfriends.app website,
- the RentFriends mobile application,
- registration forms and waitlists,
- services related to the RentFriends platform.
The Data Controllers are:
- Aleksandra Kaziniec,
- Marvin Ruciński,
operating the RentFriends platform, hereinafter referred to as the "Controllers".

§2. Scope of collected data
The Controllers may process the following user data:
1. Identification and contact data
- name or nickname,
- e-mail address,
- phone number,
- profile picture,
- date of birth or age,
- gender,
- city of residence,
- university,
- profile description,
- roommate preferences,
- social media links.
2. Data related to the use of services
- user activity in the application,
- likes and matches,
- reports regarding safety or terms of service violations,
- information related to content moderation.
3. Technical data
- IP address,
- device and browser data,
- login data,
- basic statistical and analytical data.
§3. Purposes and legal basis for data processing
Personal data is processed for the purpose of:
- creating and managing a user account,
- enabling the use of the application and website functionalities,
- matching users,
- ensuring the security of the platform,
- moderating content and handling reports,
- contacting users,
- developing and improving services,
- processing future payments related to the service.
Data is processed based on:
- Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR - performance of a contract or taking steps prior to entering into a contract,
- Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR - user's consent,
- Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR - legitimate interest of the Controllers, consisting in ensuring platform security and service development.
§4. Profile data visibility
Selected user profile information may be visible to other platform users in order to facilitate the user matching feature.
The user is responsible for the content published on their profile.
§5. External login
The user can log into the application using external services:
- Google,
- Apple,
- Facebook.
In such cases, the Controllers may receive basic data assigned to the user's account in a given service.
When logging in via Apple, the user can use the Hide My Email feature provided by Apple.
§6. Data sharing
User data is not sold to third parties.
Data may be entrusted to entities supporting the functioning of the platform, in particular:
- hosting providers,
- payment operators,
- cloud infrastructure providers,
- analytical and technical service providers.
The platform may use cloud infrastructure and database providers, in particular Supabase, to ensure the application's operation and store user data and files.
The platform may use analytical tools provided by third parties, in particular Google Analytics or Firebase Analytics, to analyze traffic, usage statistics, and develop services.
Some data may be processed outside the European Economic Area by technology service providers solely in accordance with applicable law and appropriate data safeguards.
Data processing entities are obliged to maintain appropriate security measures.
§7. Data retention period
Data is stored:
- for the period of having a user account,
- until the account is deleted,
- for the period required by law.
After deleting the account, the data may be deleted or anonymized.
§8. User rights
The user has the right to:
- access data,
- rectify data,
- delete data,
- restrict data processing,
- withdraw consent at any time,
- lodge a complaint with the President of the Personal Data Protection Office.

§9. Account deletion
The user can delete their account at any time through the feature available in the application or by contacting the Controllers.
§10. Data security
The Controllers apply appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data, in particular:
- SSL/TLS connection encryption,
- server and database security,
- restricted access to data,
- regular system updates.
§12. Age restrictions
The platform is intended exclusively for adults (18+).
The Controllers do not knowingly process the data of minors.
§13. Reporting violations
The user can report:
- security breaches,
- inappropriate content,
- privacy violations,
- actions contrary to the terms of service,

§14. Changes to the Privacy Policy
The Controllers reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy.
Users will be informed about significant changes via:
